US-BASED Koloma, Inc.’s exploration for naturally occurring hydrogen in the Philippines has yielded encouraging preliminary findings, according to the Department of Energy (DoE).

Energy Secretary Sharon S. Garin said the company had gathered survey data indicating the possible presence of native hydrogen in areas being explored.

“They are very positive about the results of their findings while they’re doing gradiometry and all the surveys that they are doing,” she said during the Philippine Investment Energy Forum on Thursday.

“There are indications that we have the supply of white hydrogen in Zambales, Pangasinan, and even up to Palawan,” she added.
