Democrats spy a red-state opening. There may not be enough cash for it.

While no race with even a remote chance of victory should be abandoned, it's better to focus resources in states with better odds of success for the Democrats.

“It’s not a huge amount of money in these states. A little money goes a long way,” said Jaime Harrison, former Democratic National Committee chair and former Senate candidate in South Carolina.

Democrats have been burned before by chasing these states. When Harrison ran for Senate in 2020, he raised $109 million. Polls showed a tight race before Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) beat him by 10 points.

Jamie Harrison was who Biden appointed to run the DNC from 2020-2024... (Edit: technically February of 2021 to February of 2025, but it's easier to think of it as presidential years to keep it straight)

The one responsible for all the shit that went down last election.

His own claim to political fame is getting money from oligarchs and losing elections.

The neoliberals keep complaining about not having money, because the more money used in a short amount of time, the more grifting and favor brokering they can do.

And they're insanely pissed the reason these states are competitive is the current DNC made it rain on state parties for 20 months now, with extra going to these states that were now competitive.

But absolutely no one, under any conditions, should ever fucking listen to Jamie Harrison about how to win an election.
