The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is planning to allocate $8.9 million to healthcare nonprofits in the city to provide gender-affirming care services to patients under 18. The move comes in light of several major hospital systems in the metropolis ceasing their transgender youth health programs over the last year in response to mounting pressure from the Trump administration, leaving some trans youth in New York City with diminished access to care.
