I don't think Nirvana is an afterlife, rather a state of being where you are at peace and one with the universe. Maybe I understand buddhism wrong?

Yes, Buddhism has no say about afterlife, unless you believe in literal rebirth. Nirvana is a state of mind when one is free from Dukkha ("suffering").

Some Buddhists, like Shambala Tibetan Buddhists teach that if you can stop the cycle of cause and effect you will disappear, in a good way. I'm not sure if that's a teaching you are meant to digest and learn something from, or if it's more of a statement of what they think will happen when you achieve your goal to stop causing suffering.

Some Buddhists believe in energy transfer, and when you die you can be in a temporary state of energy transfer, but only temporary and not a place

Buddhism is trying to commit suicide, but believing you need special conditions to not just be isekaid again.
