At the rate we're moving PS5 decomps might be real by the end of the year. People really want GTA 6.

Legally, they can't shut this down via DMCA/copyright/etc. This is a clean room implementation of the APIs via decompilation. They've lost this lawsuit before, they can't file fake DMCA, so they're kinda stuck.

Plus, the PS5 rom encryption keys leaked this year, so no matter what Sony does users can extract and decrypt games from memory using any PS5 made before January 2026. Any software update they push can be dumped from memory (I have no idea how easy or difficult this is though, or what Denuvo style encryption they use).

I'm 100% sure Sony has some fuckery saved up for the GTA6 release though. Maybe that will be adding new required API calls and forcing updates to all games, or a Nintendo Switch style firmware fuse + attestation, or force online validation to open the game (like how many single games are online only). I think the most likely is just requiring online account validation, which will probably get stripped out of a pirated game binary anyways.

No way GTAVI runs on anything other than the version Sony push the day before release.
