He asked Peltola about a recent ad in which the candidate, in a response to Republican attacks, said she doesn’t “want kids getting surgeries to change genders, or men in girls’ bathrooms.”

“That is a Republican slander,” Wilkerson told Peltola on Thursday.
”That is a false slander, and you are buying into it by releasing that ad. So my question for you is, do you plan to support trans rights in the Senate if you are elected?”

The ad in question:

"I'm a mom, and I know that parents know what's best for their kids. These attacks are lies . No, I don't want kids getting surgeries to change genders or men and girls' bathrooms. They're attacking me because I'm calling out DC politicians on their insider trading and self-dealing. I'm Mary Peltola and I approve this message. I'm going to stay focused on cracking down on corruption and lowering costs for Alaskans."
