Wondering what affordable shaving cream in a tin, or shaving soap you recommend? Trying to avoid stuff that comes in plastic tubes or spray cans. Much appreciate any suggestions!

Depending on availability where you live: L'Occitane has a nice shaving soap in a tin and Speick has a cream in an aluminum Tube.

Second L’Occitane products, but they can get pricey fast.

Arko is a great and affordable soap stick.

I really like Ach Brito Lavanda shaving cream. Speick shaving cream and C.O. Bigelow are also good, but I recommend them in that order. They all come in tin tubes. I am recommending them based on slickness and razor protection. The scents are all good. Lavanda is a rather masculine lavender scent. Speick reminds me of old school shaving cream or a barber shop. C.O. Bigelow is a eucalyptus menthol scent. I find that I have to use more of it than the other two when I shave to get the same results but the tube is twice as big so it's okay.

I use Mitchell's wool fat shaving soap, apply with warm water and a brush. Leaves me feeling silky smooth

Mitchell's has been discontinued, unfortunately.

Price varies based on location, but typically the best bang for your buck comes in the form of soap as opposed to cream. A tube of Speick works great, but you get fewer shaves out of a tube compared to most soaps.

Someone mentioned Arko, and that's probably the most affordable soap these days. It comes in a shave stick or a plastic tub. The shave stick has less packaging, and you can load directly from the stick instead of rubbing it on your face if you prefer.

Proraso is also decent.

La Toja, LEA, Dr. Selby, Haslinger... all good options.

Check out Maggard Razors if you're in the US. Check out Connaught Shaving if you're in Europe.

What, really? Damn, I'm just running out too. Good thing I have this thread for some alternative recommendations

Check out Connaught Shaving if you’re in Europe.

Probably not a good idea if you're in the EU (customs duties since Brexit...). Yourshaving is in Spain, and there are probably more local shops there, too.

Otherwise: seconding Haslinger (especially Schafmilch); nobody so far mentioned Palmolive shaving cream – which is quite nice and very affordable

Edit: Tabac FFS, how could I forget this?? If you just buy the soap, very good value
