Both of them suffer from inflated prices, it is just that the low incomer folk can't navigate their fiscal hellscape with any safety. Middle class people still have to pay through the nostrils for what they want.

By shortening the gap - say a $20,000 income for the low-income earner and $60,000 for middle class, the prices would be less painful for both of them.

By imposing floors and ceilings on income, with absolute caps on wealth and assets, the price band for goods and services could be narrowed into something more manageable. Both for individuals, and society in general.
