I mean Iran is usually reasonable in its foreign policy. The regime is fucking evil don't get me wrong, but that usually manifests more in their domestic policy (their support for Assad being a notable exception) instead. Which is to say: In a conflict between Iran and America/Israel, you can usually bet on Iran being the more reasonable side, at least partially because they're not strong enough to be as blatantly evil as America outside their borders.

The point of my original comment wasn't asserting that he quit that specific day on 19 August; I provided that date as context for the bombing he was talking about, because it was 23 years ago and not everyone remembers or was even alive for that.

My point was the quote "you haven't been golfing in recent years" and that he quit c. 2003. Which as you pointed out turned out to be October 13, 2003. That is, I wasn't trying to assign a concrete date to when he quit; I was trying to show you were completely off-base, which you were.

Edit: Worth noting, even, that there's a fairly logical explanation some have pointed out that Bush may have suffered a torn meniscus which would make a sport like golf pretty painful. (He would have his knee replaced about 10 years later.)
