The Gilbert U-238 Atomic Energy Lab is a toy lab set designed to allow children to create and watch nuclear and chemical reactions using radioactive material. The Atomic Energy Lab was released by the A. C. Gilbert Company in 1950. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilbert_U-238_Atomic_Energy_Laboratory Video with more info: |

I love this 50's-60's era stuff for kids. Some of it quite interesting like this, some mostly just for show, some of it little more than a cheap scam. Most of it advertised in magazine and comics pages. This one also reminds me of "The Radioactive Boy Scout" |

Same. There's a gee whiz aspect to these science kits that is just so wholesome. I want one of these kits now. I know I could buy most of the parts, except maybe the uranium, but it wouldn't be the same. That Radioactive Boy Scout story eluded me till now, thanks for the link. |

The post war era had the US government push STEM education, but the side effect was too many Democrat voters by the late 60s, so the GOP successfully dumbed it all down for the Unites States. |
