Some time ago I have experienced how Google maps isolate their functionalities from non-logged users. They limit reviews, photos browsing. I use Firefox.

I know it could be old news, but I noticed it just now when they propagated "update" to other places.

Priorize other maps like https://www.openstreetmap.org/

I only use gmaps through my browser when I need information on local small business.

Ponder the statement. We have to use a map app to find businesses because the search fxn in most browsers is so completely borked.

I wish so much that I could trust openstreet all the time but when I'm in a crunch and can't be fucking around with the all not knowing where an address is I have to go to Google or Waze.

I need precise adresses, not areas.

Can anyone recommend a maps service or services with satellite view and live traffic?

I like to check how busy my gym is because I am flexible on time, and I prefer a quiet workout. Google will not show you live data if you don’t accept cookies.

Totally get you, but in the meantime when you're not in a crunch, you could help improve OSM by updating Places in your Area :D

There is an App called StreetComplete which Kind of gameifies the mapping. You see all the places near you as quests and the you can super easily update a place with one button :)
personally think its super fun and it makes OSM better for everyone :D

If you use it on your mobile, they have a non logged profile to track you, they keep it also if you uninstall and reinstall the app.

Unfortunately this is the only service i use with google, because where i live there is nothing that gives you real traffic information, radar data, accidents real time updates , warning about a place close time and some authentic reviews for places.

Nothing and no alternative come close to this experience or even 20 percent of it.

I ditched all google stuff long time ago, I uninstalled the google maps app maybe 50 times, but then i keep coming back because of the functional need of it.

I'll give it a try.

Tried Vela Maps? It gets traffic and reviews from Google Maps and maps from OSM.

I try not to use any site that has the pop up sign in to the search engine's account window you have to close. It makes me distrust the website a lot more.

StreetComplete does not solve the "block of addresses" problem osm has.

I suspected that from the speed of development but it works well and it's open source. I have 4 map apps installed and I switch between them all the time.
