I lived in LA for a while. Indigenous artifacts were a hot collectible among the moneyed set. Was it for its intrinsic value? Of course not. Some broken Chumash pottery in a vacant lot could preserve your view for years during the archeological review. We should be ashamed of ourselves.

For some reason I'm inclined to believe a lot of the stories on Tumblr (at least compared to other sites) but....

They had a mother who would be pissed if they broke a single toy but didn't notice this happened so many times that it was mentioned during the site survey?

The toys, which couldn't have been more than a decade old, were rotted to the point of being terrifying?? And the least believable part....a developer giving a shit about what was buried there????

I've read more believable 4chan posts lol

I'm not sure I disapprove of this, in the Los Angeles high-end real estate market. The vacant expensive view is likely fast-vanishing wildlife habitat, the frustrated developer has deep pockets, archeologists are gainfully employed while minimally disturbing the land, and who knows, they might even find some real Tongva or Chumash relics. Which could these days lead to tribal input on what happens next.

wow, I'm glad that it's up to the states to have archeological requirements instead of the nation because rural land ownerswould absolutely destroy any evidence of artifacts if it prevented their construction projects

I mean the entirety of america is built on a native american burial ground but that doesn't stop them.
