I had some version of something like this. Pretty sure it was an etch a sketch. But it had two knobs you'd move the cursor on an lcd screen with. Can't remember how many frames it could record, at least 10 or so and lots of loops. It had a couple of effects like flipping the screen from black to white.

I made a skeleton dance and a bunch of stuff. It was a lot of fun.

Damn, thinking about this now, I should've been an animator instead of an unskilled laborer.
