Gpslogger uses the most battery. Even if I din't use the phone. It'll consume too much. What are your settings to improve battery life?
I started logging every 5 seconds and now every minute but that doesn't actually imorove battery life. Is there a solution?

I've used gpslogger for a very long time (Currently for Traccar and a daily gpx to gdrive, but have used it for other things over the years), and it's possibly the most tweakable app of its type.

Settings, Performance is the place to adjust for battery life.

My settings are below, it's a fair balance for what I want. Basic rule is - fewer fixes and sends, the less battery is used. using the GPS uses battery, so does sending data somewhere. Reducing that frequency and the battery will last longer.

Log GPS locations - yes.
Choose best accuracy in duration - yes
Rest of toggles turned off.

Logging interval: 15s
Distance 3m
Accuracy filter 40m
Duration to match 20s
Absolute time to fix, 20s

What is your purpose in using GPSLogger at all? Difficult to say how you should configure it if we don't know why you're logging your location.

Thanks for sharing your settings and thoughts about it. I adjusted my settings and see how it goes tomorrow. I really look forward to the next hike tomorrow.

Distance filter: 0m
Accuracy: 40m
Duration to match: 4s (this was set when I used 5s logging interval so it always logged something, which is very detailed)
Choose best acc: no. I changed this from yes.
Abs time to fix: i reduced this to 5s. I had 120s.

Since I don't let google use my location history, I have to takr care of that myself. Also, with a 1 minute interval, I have a detailed path of my location. I do not need to log my runs or hikes because they are always logged automatically. In case I need my history, I can just look it up. I look up my history frequently.

In short: which settings to use for efficient but soemwhat detailed logs without draining the battery.

Google somehow manages to do that. I don't know how often google checks on the location. That would be interesting to know.

I have it set to an interval of 60 seconds just like you, and everything (GPS, network, and passive) turned on; that is, when I have it turned on. I often turn it off when there is presently no good reason to log my location. It doesn't drain my battery very much, so not sure I can help you any further.

Is there a setting to make it not check/log when motion isn't detected? If it's sitting down and not on use, it doesn't really need to log does it?

Beautiful. When I ditch gLatitude, I'll be glad for that very setting.
