Australian queer Muslim filmmaker Mohammad Awad’s short film Inheritance is among the 35 finalists competing for the prize, building on its previous success within Australia.

The film follows Ameen, a queer Muslim man returning to his family home in Western Sydney after the death of his estranged father, and has resonated with both Australian and international audiences.
