A Texas trans organization is demanding answers after Republican voters in the state received unsolicited texts linking to the advocacy group’s website, in what appears to be a duplicitous effort to stoke anti-trans animus ahead of the midterm elections.

The culture war scare tactic comes even as Republicans admit that over $100 million in spending on anti-trans ads in the state has failed to move the needle in an election that could turn out to be a “bloodbath” for the party.
