Two Palestinian men who appeared to be surrendering were shot dead during an Israeli raid in Jenin, with footage showing them lifting their shirts, lying on the ground and then being ordered back inside a building before shots were fired.

A Reuters journalist at the scene saw the men emerge with their hands raised and later witnessed Israeli forces standing beside what appeared to be a lifeless body.

The Palestinian Health Ministry identified them as 26-year-old Montasir Abdullah and 37-year-old Yusuf Asasa, condemning the deaths as an execution.

The Palestinian Authority's ambassador to the United Kingdom, Husam Zomlot, labelled the incident "summary executions" and a "war crime" that fits a wider pattern across the occupied territory.

Israeli authorities said the men were wanted for terror activity and have opened an investigation, but offered no explanation for why they were shot after appearing to surrender.
