Metal sign advertising XXX beer: yellow bakground, left a bottle of XXX; centre, a large XXX bottle cap. Text: "pida" (order) & "inmejorable" (can't be bettered)
  • pida XXX : order XXX (Tres Equis, three X's)
  • inmejorable : can't be bettered
  • Cervecería Moctezuma, S.A.: Moctezuma Brewery Ltd., acquired ~1985 to become part of Cervecería Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma, makers of XX (Dos Equis, two X's). (I guess when it came to beers named X, the unified company decided "There can be only one!", i.e. 2.)
  • Orizaba, Ver.: Orizaba, Veracruz. While they no longer make XXX, the company still has a plant there.

An article in Spanish about XXX beer:

There’s also a XXX Root Beer in the midwestern U.S. that’s been around since the 1920s! It’s quite good.

Here’s an old sign as well

Galveston is on the eastern seaboard(?) of Texas so maybe “drinks with Xs” came up the coast
