Sometimes they're sneaky and hide the branding. Like I bought some socks and the logo was not visible without opening the package. (so I gave them to my cousin, he was like: whatever, free socks.)

Very smart, giving money to a company and not using their product because it has a logo nobody will ever see...

Owning it has nothing to do with it. It’s legal because there’s not a law against it. Just because you own something doesn’t mean you can do anything you want with it if you intend to sell it. You can’t put poison in it, you can’t sell asbestos. There’s tons of regulations about what you are allowed to do to products sold.

It’s legal because there’s not a law against it

Well, yeah...

I just buy plain color t shirts to begin with, this looks like a lot of work and risk nicking the fabric. Plus, they're cheaper, too.

It’s really easy and takes like five minutes. Everyone should have a seam ripper. Not just to remove brands but also annoying tags. Also I imagine most on lemmy don’t care about this, but if you buy a suit coat/blazer/whatever you’ll need a seam ripper to open up the pockets.

Don’t be so cynical, lemmy doesn’t have the traffic. This could just be someone sharing info. I need 100% cotton shirts for work safety (I work around sparks, they’ll melt/fuse to plastic clothes) and they get harder to find every year. My coworkers and i talk about this stuff more than you might think and none of us are getting paid

I was a teenager when I came to a similar conclusion. They should be paying me to wear a swoosh, not the other way around.

While this is logical, 90% of the normies want people to know that they overpaid for shit that was made in the same factories as the cheap stuff, on the same machines, with the same adhesive and near identical designs.

speaking as someone who modifies clothing and sews patches and fabric and stuff a lot, sometimes for work, thread rippers are surprisingly elegant for this sort of thing

Heh heh, my cousin was the same way, they were like: is the logo itchy? Does it make the socks less comfy? But I was like: look, I know the way I think, I know that when I wake up and get dressed I don't want a bunch of corporate logos screaming in my face, it's just the way my mind works.

I get shirts from tshirtwholesaler.com, there may be a hyphen in there somewhere. My preferred t-shirt is next level 6210, fantastic shirt, soft, great fit. There's a couple other companies I like too.

Anyway, the whole point of this is I buy like a dozen or 20 shirts, they end up costing like 4 or 5 bucks a pop, max, and I wear them til they die. They're in various colors. Sometimes my wife will press some odd design onto them with her Cricut and whatnot.

I'm a big fan of band tshirts, but the majority I find are terrible quality shirts with sometimes just a generic logo. So I like to get creative with a shirt of my choosing.

I share the same sentiment towards corporate. I'd also remove/conceal big brand logos like this when I can, or I'd shop for things without visible logos to begin with. I do, however, like to wear band merch. Bands that are just as happy to see me as I'm happy to see them. People I can go and talk to at the merch stand. People who, funded through merch and shows, will have the means to record an...

I'm a band shirt guy as well. Only beef I have is so many of them are Gildan and feel like a burlap sack. Sometimes I'll buy the shirt, and then steal the design and print it on a shirt of my choosing. Kinda like ripping a DVD I own to keep digitally. It's fine. It's fine!

I also try to. But those shirts are 100% cotton and a fair bit thicker than what you get from other brands. They remind of pre-enshittified Carhartt shirts. They're kinda hard to pass up over something you can cut off in a minute or two.

Tshirtwholesaler, try a few different shirt brands and styles out. There's so many that are plain white (or color) tees, only potential branding is against your neck on the inside of the shirt. I actually dontind having something there, because sometimes someone's like "Hey, what kind of shirt is that, it's soft, I like the cut, it wears nice," and then I direct them to the tag or print at the inside collar for information.

Yeah, I just bought my fifth car new and none of them have had any dealership info on them. I say "Don't put any identifiers on the car," and they say "Sure," which implies to me they're not willing to lose a sale over something so stupid.

I'm glad whoever made this did such a good job censoring out the brand, I might have thought it was subtle advertising otherwise.

Yeah I’m sure the kids will be flocking to the Wrangler store after seeing that Lemmy post, it was definitely worth their marketing execs developing such a sneaky ad campaign

I don't know, it takes 0 minutes and 0 dollars in tools to buy a t-shirt without branding. Plus the t-shirt itself is cheaper.

I buy mines on Amazon, I restock every black Friday, between 6 and 8 euros, depending on the color/sale.

I also wear a lot of merch t-shirts, but if I get a free t-shirt I find the advertising fair, and it's usually for things I like anyway.

What's fucked up about this world is that here we are, discussing the brand, using the name, leaving a footprint on a public message board. It is not even remotely unrealistic in this new reality that you could actually be in the employ of the company who manufactures this clothing to engage me with this "sarcastic" response (and you might not even be a real person). That's what the Internet has become: unlimited marketing opportunity where no mention of your identification is worthless and no press is bad press.

Of course, you could also just be a sarcastic human pointing out that you think this is an idiotic comment. This is one of the reasons why it works so effectively. I can't really make a judgment about what is true here and neither can anyone reading it.

All I'm doing is just pointing something out: if they wanted to censor the brand... why didn't they? Because they didn't. They pretended to. Barely. It could just be a sloppy OP, but obviously I don't think so.

Just because not everything is a conspiracy doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.

Yeah, I wish there were more higher quality shirts out there, even if the price is higher, but I'm personally fine with Gildan too.

Going the DIY route, which method you're using and are you happy with the results? I've tried DTG before and it's fine at first, but it starts to deteriorate after some time. I haven't tried screen printing (ordering a design by myself), but I've heard from a friend of mine who does merch that it's just not cost effective for a one off.

And they have a right to tell you "sure thing, we'll get that removed" and conveniently leave it out of the contract and tell you "oh, sorry, remove it yourself." And then you leave them a bad review and it stays there for a week and the owner replies saying they're sowwwy and then Google removes your review.

Then refuse the sale??? Ive done this every time and it has always worked. Sure they get huffy and puffy about it, but when you tell them that they won't get the sale unless they remove it, they'll comply.

I'm sorry, but I can't accept that much responsibility. I'm 5'8, guy, pretty average build, and the NextLevel 6210 comes about mid biceps, and probably an inch or so below my belt line. It fits me great.

There are decent enough sizing charts on the site, IIRC. I'm the kind of guy who buys the same shoe for the past 25 years, so when I find something that works, that's it, forever.

My wife does Cricut but she also orders from Ninja Prints from time to time, and she heat presses. The majority of band shirts I get aren't built to last, and so these end up kind of on par with those. The sublimation prints come out a little nicer, but my wife's gotten pretty handy with her machine thing and has put together some decent enough designs. Sometimes I'm able to find her BMPs or PNGs, and if not she can vector JPEGs. But this was something she was into and doing and then I was like hey, while you're at it.

BIG upvote from me. i do exactly this. especially when it's prominently placed.

i bought a blank product, i want it to look blank. a logo is aesthetically jarrinf, it's like it breaks the plain design.

i even go the effort of buying blank 59fifty baseball caps ans painstakingly use a thread ripper to remove the "new era" logo.

Interestingly enough, the German big 3 usually offer debadging in terms of model and engine size as a free option and it seems most people take it unless they want to boast that it's an M5 or something AMG. But that's just to hide that they have a 2.0 diesel I think. Nobody offers their cars without the actual logo though, as far as I know. I suspect most buyers don't want to hide that it's a BMW, only that it's a 520d with an M-sport package rather than an M5.
