I know you don’t have that set to one day.

The Model X had it under a speaker cover. The model 3 didn't have it listed in the user manual. Fans discovered under a rubber door pocket cover, you could remove a flushed mounted plastic tab and fish out a pull wire to open the door. It wasn't until 2024 that Model 3's got a door release.

Idea: in case of emergency the user can download a 400 mb app and after login + otp verification can see where is the emergency door opening tab

Roadster is definitely coming out, but 100% not going to have a thruster fit into a car, no one should listen to Empty Husk when he said that.

And some rich drunk kid will drive it off the bridge "I saw it on YouTube it can fly"

which, to be clear, it absolutely can't do because of its cast aluminum and overall undersized component design

The frothing, uncritical comments from Musk stans on that video are insane. I hope they're mostly bots and don't represent real humans - nobody is acknowledging how impractical, unsafe, or illegal any of these moves are, nor how it's a just a stunt that will never reach real-world production or on-road use.

Musk stans all live in a datacenter in Tennessee.

Youre telling me that cancelling 2 of its models and introducing this model, which is priced around s $200,000 and will probably never see the road as is because of safety reasons, will make the company stock go down?

It's not about shitty, unsafe nor overpriced cars. It's about musk being one of biggest nazi holocaust continuation contributor.

Last I knew like 1/3 of the population would pass out or such experiencing those g forces. Aka no person can be trusted to drive the device past performing the possibly brain damaging device.

Passing out for half a second wouldn't even matter since you cant steer or break either way during the boost.

Here is a German YouTuber showing how you should add emergency pulls to the model 3 because it doesn't have them. https://youtube.com/shorts/QFLq7-wIGCo?is=xzWnVqoox6WpqGrE

Crazy, but that is also not a 3/Y, probably an X, maybe an S? The trunk of the 3/Y doesn't open into the cabin.

Agreed it is/would be stupid to make a car like that. But my 3 is the best car I have ever driven.

Also, there has to be a limit as to how low the stock can go until the lenders start asking for payments or more collateral. I'm salivating over the thought that that limit is breached one day and Musk and his buddies get a cold shower. The stock price might have to go pretty low though, but there's a chance and I'm rooting for it.

He has been probably adding more collateral every time the stock goes bellow the value at lending time.

Maybe this has been explained, but how was the car able to drive upside-down before the thrusters had been activated? It's not like it was going fast enough for its momentum to hold it there.

I saw something about suction using a vacuum on the bottom. Not sure how the hell that could hold up a heavy car.

Wow it watches like The Onion News Network, especially towards the end.

Looks like they failed to make Roadster have any impressive parameters so they mounted an air jet to cheat, and then get carried away when preparing a demo.

It is pretty much exactly where it was on September 28th. Tesla's market evaluation has traditionally very little to do with reality anyway.

Yeah ppl love sharing these 1 day drops as if it won't be completely recovered in a month. The whole thing is a huge rigged casino they know those price drops are just to shake down the poor's for whatever they have left. Tsla is still ridiculously over valued but good luck shorting them, this is not a rational market based in reality.

Even if they don't replace a car, they're great vehicles. They're fun to ride, you rarely have to worry about traffic jams, they're cheap to operate, and you can do a lot of your own maintenance.

Does yours have seats on the back? A trailer? I've seen a variety of solutions for transporting kids. The trailer is the solution I see most often, and it looks like the most luxurious option for the kids. They often look like they're some aristocrat being carried on a palanquin, sprawled out and enjoying the ride.

I quite appreciate the visceral dislike that people have for Tesla. Given that we see their products directly in our everyday lives, I certainly don't blame people for reacting this way, and I'm happy to encourage this sort of scrutiny, especially over the longer term. I sometimes think, though, that the zeitgeist is missing some of the deeper damage that Musk's enterprises are inflicting. I don't think there's nearly enough journalism about the ongoing effects of DOGE cuts, for example.

And then there's SpaceX. In all the anger over the throttling of Starlink ("Starshield") for the defenders in Ukraine, I haven't seen a single note of awareness about Starlink and LEO satellite megaconstellations being inherently harmful (regardless of who launches them). Aside from the increased orbital collision risk, the atmospheric pollution, and the blinding of astronomical facilities (including asteroid defense), there's the threat to the ozone layer from all that reentering aluminum. All of which will only increase as lunatics continue to use near-orbital space as their dumping ground.

It's a powerful metaphor for our time. When it comes to Tesla, I think there's a good company in there, somewhere. And SpaceX absolutely employs some of the best aerospace talent on the planet, capable of advancing legitimate science and exploration in space. And yet, so many brilliant folk are caught up employing their skills in juvenile displays like flying car stunts and planet-encircling rings of disposable satellites.

Stock market is always weird to think about.

Just a fraction of the rich peoples' gambling money can make imaginary industries with no profit like chatbots stay alive.

Their combined wealth is at levels of a post-scarcity society and they keep using it in dumb ways.

Tesla drivers I see fall into 3 categories:

  • 2017 or older: fair enough, and credit for moving to EVs so early!
  • 2018-2023: er, Elon seems like kind of a twat. Are you sure? The whole Thai cave thing? But, you know, some benefit of the doubt.
  • 2024+: You are supporting a literal Nazi.

Eh, it could've been but on the other hand, the design is plausible. Stupid, but plausible.

Basically a space craft lander themed as a car.

Note that even by Tesla standards, they said no one could even ask for that car and that car would never be street legal. They did send have waving around whether the limited mid tier car would be street legal by saying it was contingent on your local regulations for thrusters on cars, which is a long way to say it wont be street legal either.

Even though they say the lowest end will be street legal, that active down force system says otherwise.

But a promised production date in 2 years in Tesla time means we went be seeing it for a long time, if ever.

Weren't the 3 and Y marketed as more budget options? I guess the nazi wants everyone who doesn't want to "feel broke" to buy the low-poly car instead, even if it ruins the S3X and S3XY puns.

Up from September 28th.

And down 12% from April, down 19% from January, down 7% from Monday.

I can pick arbitrary dates for comparison too.

However since the currently relevant topic is what that stunt did for Tesla, this graph is more specifically on target.

People really weren't buying those though. It's a hot take, but I think they made the right choice on that one. They followed it up with the wrong choice to not develop hybrid wagons/cross overs. I don't think anyone saw the return of the minivan.

That is not quite true though. While they indeed still make (2) good car models there are alternatives on the market that can rival them (eg Kia EV4 or Renault Scenic E-tech 89kWh) and those alternatives can do so while actually having real buttons, that you don't have to take off the eyes from the road just because you want to adjust the A/C or whatever. If you really wanted to leave Tesla, you could. That said, I don't see the point in selling a perfectly good car in working condition for such reasons. What difference does it make if someone else is driving it and if no one is driving it it is a waste of resources.

When's the last time you looked?
Hyundai Ioniq 5 / 6, BMW i4, Xpeng G6 for example come to mind.
Bonus: they're on an 800V platform so loading from 10% - 80% is like 14 minutes compared to ~25 minutes for a model 3

Also, the Renault Scenic E-tech 89 kWh has a comparable range for example, so does the Kia EV4. Prices are comparable too.
