Do you feel safe with all the entRUSTing they're putting on non GNU software?

I have a question. Why should I be concerned by rust uutils? Are they not just more modern implementations of the same utilities? |

Buggy software will straight up parse the output of these utils and break if like a space is in the wrong place |

If I need a bulletproof stability, I would just choose Debian Stable over Ubuntu. From Ubuntu such a things are expected imo. It always was about "we prioritize latest features and modern software over stability" |

Yeah, less tested, likely less secure despite Rust, breakage in edge-cases. |

For me the problem isn't the rust implementation itself, but the political attempt to de-fang the GPL by rewriting an important project with a permissive, instead of copyleft, license. |

What is it with rust-staining everything? Rust is great, but abusing it with license washing and slopcoding is not :(. Why would I choose rust core utils, other than accepting less free license, which is against my interest? Have they proven to be more secure? Speed is not really enough of an advantage for me for this. |

You mean more free license. The issue is that it's too free for anyone to do whatever they want to do with it. GPL is more restrictive |

GPL protects the true freedom by being virotic. Other licences are just bourgeois anarcho capitalist wet dreams. |
