Got notification about "new post by followed user rimu," but when I click that user I'm not actually following them

I feel weird and stalkerish about this. I never clicked to follow rimu@piefed.social, nor do I want to be alerted of their every post—let them keep their online life private. But I'm also not being given the option to unfollow, because the UI when I go to their profile says I'm not following them!

I will go follow-unfollow and see if that helps, but thought I ought to report this…

You might have clicked the bell next to their name on their user profile. You can check by going to Account -> Activity Alerts and look for that user listed there.

It's not stalkerish, he's the admin, and AFAIK a nice guy/girl/bro/gal.

Account -> Activity Alerts defaults to showing post alerts, which is a bit confusing. I'll tweak that.

No, I mean I feel stalkerish having a feed of his activity… he is indeed nice and helpful and responsive. Helped when this new account accidentally got automod banned.
