Rightwing people are virtually defined by their complete lack of media literacy, you better believe the Far Right will annihilate cinema in France, what would be left would be an ugly, hateful joke.

When rightwing people watch Starship Troopers they get fully swept up in the fascism of it without getting it is a biting satire, when rightwing people watch Wolf Of Wallstreet they think it is a story about a hero's journey, when rightwing people watch Lord Of The Rings they think all the toys the bad guys have are cool and name their defense companies which kill real people and completely destroy their privacy after them.

These people are hateful babies incapable of perceiving ANYTHING past the superficial surface of an idea, you better believe French Cinema is dead if rightwing fascists take power in France.

I think it would do left wing politics much good if it didn’t generalise large swathes of people as troglodytes. Repeatedly some of those people keep left outsmarted so it’s best to get in terms with things being touch more complex. Polarisation across current axes seems toxic to the left and there’s no need to antagonise people unnecessarily because you might still have some common causes with them.

The left really didn't do any of that polarization and if you think that you are a buying into lazy narratives that have been handed to you.

Right, generalising more than a half of the society is the non-intellectually lazy approach.

I am describing an ideology, people are not limited to any one ideology, people are not the same thing as beliefs but when people subscribe to rightwing beliefs the same pattern repeats over and over again and I am describing it perfectly reasonably.

The two aspects that make rightwing beliefs so dangerous are

1. an obsession beyond all else with an in and an out group
2. a complete fixation on strength and purity, usually racially defined of course, that erodes the capacity of society to use empathy to see weakness as NOT a choice or moral judgement upon the character of the weak by God or whatever.

Art cannot exist in the roaring hurricane force against freedom that rightwing movements force upon us, either it fights it or it dies.

This is hilarious because where I live conservatives waged a hate campaign against LGBTQ people using exact same arguments - they were attacking an ideology and not any actual people. Oh, how the turntables…

Except that difference between them and me is I don't feel the need to demand we inspect children's genitals before they go to the bathroom, I also don't proclaim to know what it is like to live in another's body and know that someone could not feel they are a different gender than what they were assigned, I give a shit about the details of adults having consensual sex with each other only in the sense that I find it amazing how diverse humans can be, and I have no desire to point at parts of human gender, sexuality or sex and say "That is WRONG WE CANT ALLOW IT", I do not advocate for draconian abortion laws that are lightly disguised acts of violence and control against women, I also advocate for better treatment for everybody (universal quality healthcare for everyone NOW) including the people I hate which is perhaps the most striking, defining and objective difference between me and the conservatives you are talking about.
