Mamdani has shown that if people in power actually give a shit, they can make a difference.

In the mean time, he's helping keep the oppressive power structure firmly in place.

It all makes sense when you realize the government is just another player in the game. Conflict Theory.

Eh, from what little I understand, it seems the DSA (political group he is part of), has Dual Power as part of its mode of operation, so I don't think he is as bad as you're saying.

They are telling you to shut up and stop bothering them with your constant whining for things you need to survive. They spend more preventing you from getting things you need than they do ensuring you can get them. They don't care about us.

Material needs have been given to the rich and the cops are there to keep it that way.

Their first job is to protect capital and that includes capitalists.

Reform is wrong if that is what you are talking about.

It's true.

And they've rigged the game at both ends by driving down wages and privatizing the prison and war industries. Poverty is profitable. It's just a bonus that it's all exceedingly cruel too, because as we're seeing in the US, Canada, France, India, and elsewhere... the people in charge rather enjoy the systemic cruelty.

No, he's demonstrating that Socialist policies can have a positive impact, and that means those policies will spread.

You can't expect the entire system to change on the day someone is elected. It takes time for new policies to percolate through the system, and for their effects to grow to a point where they actually start to make a difference.

That takes time, and Mamdani is only closing in on his first year, and his first year has been far more successful than any other new mayor I've ever heard of. He's certainly done a better job than any other NYC mayor in my lifetime.

I AM pissed that he's keeping that same unqualified Sociopathic Oligarch Nepo Baby Police Commissioner. She's Billionaire Scum, and she needs to go.

Those are not socialist policies that he's enabling, It's still reliant on the capitalist system of welfare
