The Russian threat for Europe is not only evident but also more or less immediate. Extensive warfare is already being conducted in the shadows of the grey zone, in the form of what is commonly referred to as hybrid warfare. Russia, however, does not stand alone. Only weeks before the invasion, Moscow and Beijing proclaimed a partnership ‘without limits’, and China has since become the decisive enabler of Russia’s war. Here is the entire report: EUROPE’S NEXT AWAKENING A new report demonstrates the mechanisms and methods of Russia’s hybrid war in the Nordic region and Western Europe. One of the principal objectives of Russian hybrid warfare is to undermine support for Ukraine and to promote a narrative in which the war is attributed to a wide range of supposed causes for which Ukraine itself is held responsible. The methods used are however not unique for Russia. The same grey-zone toolkit of disinformation, elite capture, and the deliberate creation of economic and technological dependencies is employed by China on a global scale and with far greater resources. Though China usually acts in quieter and more patient forms. Where Russia confronts, China cultivates. "The two increasingly operate in parallel, and at times in concert, against the same target of open and democratic societies," the report reads. There is now widespread awareness both of the Russian threat to Europe and of the forms of warfare through which it is being pursued. For the foreseeable future, this will remain one of the defining issues of European politics. "It is China ... that stands increasingly behind Russia, and increasingly above it." ... The way forward when it comes to dealing with China both as an enabler and actor in the hybrid theatre involves, among other things: revising current knowledge about hybrid events that do not make it to the centre of the debate, applying historical gained knowledge to new situations and contexts, identifying the long term influence aimed at brittling down our resistance, and fostering a culture of collective action, readiness and endurance (encompassing all of Europe, and all ... Amongst others, the reports suggests to treat reinforcement infrastructure as part of the defence architecture. "Ports, railways, energy systems, telecommunications, data centres and undersea cables require cyber defence, redundancy, counter-sabotage and rapid attribution," the report says. European and like-minded democratic states should anchor research security in law by requiring institutions to vet high-risk cooperation, report relevant risks and assign clear responsibility, without treating academic freedom and security as opposites;

Add the U.S. to the list. The major dictatorships are joining forces to subjugate the rest of the world... what a shitty timeline. |

Interestingly enough, even when these nations differ in terms of their dominant religions, cultural factors, and histories, they unite in their mission to undermine democracy around the world. |

It is about disabilizing the enemies that's all. Has nothing with being a democracy or an autocracy |

How do these countries determine who is their enemy? What common factor unites Russia and Iran, for example? |

The west couldn't forgive Iran for getting rid of their puppet the shah and straight away imposed sanctions on it. That's how Iran determined that the west is the enemy. Russia determine who is the enemy based on who threaten it's imperial interests |
