Theme: PIF Day - thanks to u/Breadheater9876 for this PIF. He wanted to introduce others to the supercreamed triple-butter soap from The Sudsy Soapery and I'm glad he did. It made gobs and gobs of yogurty lather. Reading the description, I was expecting a low scent that was kind of basic. The scent is really good and I would describe it as medium strength. Sandalwood and myrrh go great together.

I picked Lucky Tiger AS to compliment the soap. They're not clashing according to my nose and I think S&M is leading the pack. I whipped out Prastara on a whim and I'm not sad. It's really good.

Daily Challenge: This challenge is the opposite of World Cup Day. That challenge had explicit instructions ("Time yourself from the moment your brush loads the soap to the moment you use an aftershave."). This one did not have similar instruction. So, I prepped all my gear for the shave and started blooming the soap hours ago. I had a nice sleep and a shower with Chiseled Face hair and body products. I fixed my hair and beard and completed other morning miscellany. I finished with a nice three-pass shave and a litany of post shave products. It was a really enjoyable and refreshing shave.

  • Brush: Wolf Whiskers - "Gianmaria" w/Maggard 26mm Synthetic
  • Razor: Worcester Razor Co. - 6/8 Half Hollow (1)
  • Lather: Ariana & Evans - Nero e Rosso - Soap
  • Post Shave: Ariana & Evans - Nero e Rosso - Aftershave
  • Fragrance: G. Bellini - Homme - EdT
  • Time: 18:57.26

This soap was gifted to me by my good friend u/Specialist-Break-495. I somehow got him interested in wetshaving and he has been going all out! Thanks man! He also gave me this aftershave.

Daily challenge:

My "fast" shave was done with a straight razor too and I think it clocked in at around 11 minutes. Did I cook the books? Maybe. For that shave I didn't count stropping, cleaning up, or aftershave. I did today, because you have to pump those numbers up, and damnit it counts.

Even subtracting those things this shave took longer. (It'd be roughly 15.5 minutes by my math).

One thing I thought was interesting was each pass took about the same amount of time. They're all within about 6 seconds of each other.

1:09:47 - strop
2:00.9 - load
4:35.08 - 1st
4:30.78 - 2nd
4:23.62 - 3rd
1:37.82 - rinse & clean up
0:39.55 - aftershave

18:57.26

  • Brush: Zenith MOAR BOAR
  • Razor: GEM Clog Pruf
  • Blade: GEM PTFE (4)
  • Lather: Golddachs - Classic - Puck
  • Post Shave: Whole Hog - Unscented - Aftershave
  • Osma: Osma - Osma
  • Scuttle: [Redacted] - Travel Scuttle

Since I can’t win, I decided to use PIF day to honor one of former champions and all around good guy: /u/djundjila. DJ sent this soap all the way across the pond along with this [Redacted] Travel Scuttle. It sucks that [Redacted] makes this thing because it’s a really good piece of hardware. DJ bought it before he knew about [Redacted] and PIFed it to me because he doesn’t really use scuttles and didn’t want to own anything from [Redacted].

Anyway, many thanks to DJ for all he’s done for the sub, in particular, the portal. We tried to figure out how to do the LG without the portal and it was effectively impossible, so everything you see here this month really starts with his hard work there!

I probably underloaded, but I couldn't be bothered.

Have a good night!

October 20th, 2026: PIF Day

  • Brush: Zenith - MOAR BOAR (r/wetshaving exclusive) 31mm Boar
  • Razor: Koraat Moarteen (15/16", full hollow, square point, r/wetshaving exclusive) (2)
  • Lather: Catie's Bubbles - V - Soap
  • Post Shave: House of Mammoth - Snippid - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Oleo & Co. - Facial Toner - Toner
  • Fragrance: Stirling - Arkadia - EdT

Theme justification - u/brokenjaw622 gifted me this soap after I helped him snag some rare bubbles. Thanks dude!

Relevant Post Shave or Frag - Snippid's green camphor plays nicely with the grab bag of scents that is V. The splash mainly picks up the vetiver of the soap, carrying it to a lovely cool, green place.

Daily challenge - LG has officially transitioned me to night shaving, so a long shave is fine by me.

This was my 67th straight razor shave, and probably one of my best yet. Here's how long it took me.

  • 15 minutes to soak the brush
  • 17:20 stropped razor 20 laps on firehose linen
  • 18:38 20 laps on leather
  • 30:31 first pass done
  • 37:37 second pass done
  • 45:11 third pass done
  • 46:13 toner applied to face
  • 48:45 shit cleaned up, razor stropped (10 laps leather)
  • 50:58 splash splashed
  • 1:07:00 frag sprayed
  • 1:13:06 SOTD post finished

$FOF - As explained above, Snippid hinged on the vetiver in V to bring the initial combination into a camphorous, cool, green space. Arkadia, a dupe of Terre d'Hermès, brings bright grapefruit, cedar, shiso, and a subtle grassiness. It's a shot of brightness on top of the vegetal feeling left by Snippid.

I really should buy a bottle of the Snippid frag...
