Maybe 100% not, but current fuel prices sure have a role in it.

A large section of the ongoing French protests is motivated by the steep increase in fuel costs.

The Iran war didn't cause the teacher shortage, but it is one of the many reasons for this protest.

a big part of the protest is the spike in cost of living, which has spiked due to fuel prices.

it isn't 100% on Iran, but they had a part to play.

that is what happens when you let a rouge terrorist state start wars with US backing only to lose them.

What has the fuel price done about cost of living so far? UK here and I haven't really noticed anything changing. My mortgage continues to get cheaper relative to inflation, electricity has increased by so little it's also dropped relative to inflation. Not really noticed much change in the price of food either, we still spend less than £30 a week between the 2 of us.

Almost all of the cost of living is housing with everything else pretty much being pocket change in comparison. Just after I bought house prices appear to have started stagnating which is a bit annoying for the timing of it but should help bring the relative cost down for new buyers if it continues.

Oil has an outsized impact on how inflation is measured, so prices not growing faster than inflation when oil prices are high still leaves lots of room for them to grow rapidly. As well as that, for most people, things going up in price is already a problem whether or not inflation is higher, especially when inflation's so far above the target rate of 2%. If it was just a short blip of inflation being above 2%, then it wouldn't be so bad, but because it was really high for a while, lots of people already burned through any buffer they had.

Even in absolute terms I don't really see much difference in things I buy. Mortgage is much more than everything else combined and its a fair bit lower than it was 3 years ago in absolute and relative to inflation value.

The only stuff I kinda want that is going way up is stuff like GPUs or memory. Which let's be honest, you can live without just fine.

The shortage of teachers was the start, then more and more people joined the protests and it became a more global statement. Now, they are protests against the cost of living crisis and the erosion of the socialist state

and india as well as argentina, and to some degree even spain is neutral, I think they are speaking in a perspective of "we versus the world", which is a bit nonsensical because the world isnt just the western world (who have been the ones mostly sanctioning Iran in the last decades), and more recently a subset of that western world that is still willing to support USA's non sensical 3rd (I might be missing one) war in the middle east

Europe is sending a lot of money to Ukraine, and after Iran closef hormuz the price of oil started to rise. In order to keep the money flowing to kill kids in arab countries they need to cut costs at home. That makes life in europe worse and expensive, and this is how the crisis in iran is related to europe

Yup, the global energy shock from the closure of Hormuz has absolutely nothing to do with the spike in cost of living in Europe. Just like the proxy war in Ukraine hasn't had any effect on European economy.

France is very indebted. It needs to either raise taxes or cut spending. Debt gets more expensive because its refinancing at higher rates. We have higher rates because of higher inflation. And inflation is driven by the oil shock.

The issues people protest on all have their roots way before the US began to bomb Iran.
And there already have been protests like this in the past about similar issues.
Yeah, some prices got way up but still the root cause f the protests isn't Iran

In Brazil it's a concern about democracy if fascist gets into power and in India there it's also not wanting fascist Modi in power Who's meddling with democracy
In France and Belgium it's wanting better education
In Albania, it's the protest against corruption and Trump wanting to build hotels and stuff.
In Spain it's the housing crisis that sparked the protests but still it's been an issue long before Trump bombed Iran.
What you say is mostly true for Italy, but in conclusion I would say like it's just Iranian propaganda.

inflation is trending up it's nowhere near peak 2022 levels, but 2022 also had increases in wages to offset it.

Housing crisis is because of constrained supply. Foreign rich speculators bet it will stay this way. Not the dumbest bet.

I will explain how speculation works here: they bought million of houses during the 2008 crisis, they keep some closed to reduce the offer and increase the pricing. meanwhile they sell housing for vacational rent or other investors and the price continue increasing.

is not just a lack of "offer" or "constrained supply". they bought the houses and keep a lot of them closed to increase their earnings artificially.

and the right wing setup rules to "free" social houses in a lot of regions and allow them to be sold to speculators after that time finished (Madrid is an example). plus a lot of the houses were sold to private investors by the right wing during the crisis to the cheapest pricing possible.

a lot of people living in those houses are at the edge of eviction because those investors want to resell them or increase the rent as rich foreigners offer them more, or just resell them to other investors.

brasil makes a lot of their own fuel, so prices have not been climbing as much as in europe. brasil is protesting because the remnant of its democracy is about to end.

i need to add that the right wing spreads misinfo about inmigrants occupying the houses of people (big lie) to fearmonger those who want to rent, pay for occupation insurance and offer seasonal rents (vacational rents renamed in a different way) only.

recent laws for housing regulation (declaration of stressed zones to limit the maximum pricing as example) are not being applied in a lot of municipalities (governed by right wing) and «owners» skip them by dividing a flat in rooms, they rent you a room which is not legally a flat/house so the law does not apply to them.

That was over exam fraud. The education minister resigned which was the goal so that protest ended. This protest was started by both the federal opposition party and the roach protestors on Sept 24.
