Not that there's not merit to the mainstream right having more firearms than the mainstream 'left', but I think you might be discounting how many people left of the center are firearm owners in America. If you're speaking from a perspective of civil unrest leading to political violence, I dont feel any group will have a hard time obtaining firearms, rather they'd be bottlenecked by the amount of supporters they can find to wield such firearms. A lot of people are talk, yet when you give someone a gun and say they might die for a cause, it vastly lowers how many truly want to enact violence.

I attended a gun show once, and went with a friend who had worked in a gun store for years and was much more familiar than me, to prevent me from making a fool of myself.

There was a table advocating for "Constitutional Carry," that is, arguing that there should be no licensing required for concealed carry. There were two guys manning the table, one maybe in his thirties, and the other a guy in his fifties or sixties with a long grey beard.

I'd have just walked by, but my friend marched right up and said "Hey, just so you know, I hope you guys fail."

The younger guy kind of tenses up and bristles a little and the older guy says "Oh? Why is that?"

And my friend says "I worked in a gun store for over ten years, and I turned in more concealed carry permit applications than I can remember, and..." and at this point she gestures around to the room behind us, "... I wouldn't trust 95% of the people in this room with a gun."

And the older guy kind of smiles and nods and says "Yeah, okay, that's fair."

Atrophy doesn't matter in war, only capability to harm your opponent.

In the early modern period in Europe you could argue that the European armies martial arts ability in close quarters combat that had been developed over centuries was atrophying as they relied more on guns. But that doesn't matter if 50 guys with guns can defeat 5 highly trained knights and those 50 guys are cheaper to find and replace.

Same with AI, it won't matter if you have a couple more highly trained hackers and security experts if there up against a swarm of AI agents who have proven very capable of cyber attacks.

Agents are the guns of cyber warfare. Any idiot can pick them up easily and do a lot of harm.

Mass majority of the cases are when people aren't home. The thieves want a quick in and out score, not to have to face a possible armed home owner. The type of person depicted in the comic just wants to kill "certain" people only and we know it's just thinly veiled racism at this point.

And I would add to the argument there's a second, less visible gun culture in the USA. You have the right wing idiots who put loaded pistols between sofa cushions with toddlers in the house and people who are fine with guns far left of them that lock them up properly, don't broadcast it with posters, bumper stickers, and what not You know, more responsible people.

The first purge movie was just really heavy social commentary on POC and racism, homelessness amongst veterans, jealousy amongst neighbors, and the wealthy who practically are killing people for fun at this point.

Those people don't really understand the social and political commentary that's been in WH40K. Albeit it's less blatantly obvious now and more dark satire but it's there.

And most preppers will last as long as the canned food does. A lot of them are just people who want to kill people without problems with no thought to continuity of civilization after an event.

Where as real prepparing people aren't just hoarding canned goods and ammunition. They're learning animal husbandry, how to grow crops, rotation of crops, ways to clean and purify water. Trying to rebuild society stuff that the typical reactionary couldn't understand.
