If you are an edgey atheist in favor of this blatant religious discrimination you are a dangerous fool.

I am edgey atheist that doesn't care about this one way or another, but the article irself is hilarious.

So there is a person that supposedly converted to islam as a 'way to fight oversexsualization of women'. And this person tried to get support of their petition to challenge this law, and there is just no support for it.

"I understand they [the Central Mosque of Lisbon] are in a complicated position, but no, we don’t have their support. They believe we represent a very small minority of those who wear burqas and niqabs"

"Even non-Muslims went to the Central Mosque of Lisbon to express their concerns when the bill was announced. Their response was: 'Don’t worry, they’ll adapt. Or else, leave Portugal"

"head of the Central Mosque, Sheikh David Munir, said the burqa and niqab are not mandatory in Islam and should not be treated as such"

So the mosque actually supports this and it should be enough if priests support it, unless it isn't a religious issue.
