It's about the TLS apocalypse. TLS certificates issued by various places are super important for internet security. One such place seems to have interpreted the concept of 384 bit encryption to mean 'Pick a random number between 1 and 384'. One private key was literally just 4.

Oh that's fun! Well humanity, looks like it's back to just trusting each other!

Per ars technica

Astonishingly, the private keys were 4, 56, 66, 115, 155, 156, 230, 237.

There's at least one prequel. IIRC the first PS3 jailbreak was made possible partially thanks to the devs setting a random seed of 4 somewhere

Absolutely wild that a Star Trek meme community is riffing on a CVE. I am totally here for it!

The CVEs are for PHP. The private key thing is just unhinged absurdity

I'm glad all the senior officers shouting their own authorization codes across the bridge every other episode haven't completely desensitised us

To be fair... When they do that, it's about the voice print saying the code rather than the specific authorization phrase itself.

Now, whether a voice print should be considered a secure verification at all... is a different discussion.

So, that's the reason I can use mine to rip SACD's?
