Signed up a couple of days ago, went to check it this morning, offline, and it’s been down all day. Did they close up shop?

Pixelfed servers are down for a PHP vulnerability and patch. I had to check their account on Mastodon, because I was thinking the same thing.

It's not an uncommon occurrence. Part of being on the fediverse is dealing with instance outages. Sometimes they are communicated, sometimes they're not.

Looks like it’s back up

Yup. I’m learning. I’m trying to disconnect from the more centralized “classic” social networks and use Lemmy, Mastodon, and Pixelfed. I’m really enjoying meeting some interesting people and not being bombarded with the typical nonsense you’d see elsewhere. I’ll take for a few hours of downtime for that. 😊

Heck yeah! I noticed a few images not showing originally but it’s coming back. I wonder if Cloudflare had to catch up.
