Report— PDF.

A new report published by the Internet Infrastructure Coalition (i2Coalition) warns that poorly targeted VPN regulation can weaken the security infrastructure everyone depends on. The group, whose members include VPN providers, points to piracy blocking orders against VPNs in France, while U.S. lawmakers also consider similar blocking requirements. The report is released on Global Encryption Day.

you are doing government wrong if your goal is to control people.

since this article mentions that us law makers are thinking about it, i will add my us opinion, which probably is relevant for other countries but.... we are innocent till proven guilty. we have laws and consequences. we have freedom to make choices. if we make illegal ones, we face the consequences. there is no path where anyone is willing to give up privacy and freedom for large corporations losing money. i dont think you should ever give up privacy but if there was some magical scenario where me losing privacy would save millions of lives, we coild at least have a conversation but not for people illegally getting a hold of media.

jist to show how dishonest this is, why dont we require all business phone, comoutees and boardrooms to be monitored so they dont commit financial fraud. that does actual damagae to society, but fir some reason no one is suggesting that
