Alright, i reviewed the video more times, zoomed in. I checked each section and here's the correction of my initial, mistaken view.

The dude doesn't trip on the metal bar with his foot. He's taking long strides and tries to go over or around the metal bar mid stride, while also changing direction.
I still think his legs are weak and he lost strength when turning because he overstretched himself. His head was directed at her, then turned when he was changing direction and went down.

I can't say it's intentional because to me he didn't seem to look at where he was going to throw and his face/nose was very close to the floor, which i think spooked him after.

Did he care he was slamming her? I doubt that. It was probably a case of 'better her than me'. But I still don't think it was an intentional move in this case.
