The indictment alleges that members of the conspiracy “used various business entities” to “disguise the proceeds of illegal marijuana distribution,” and that Lucas “used her political position in the Virginia state senate to insulate” the enterprise “from criminal scrutiny, to further the goal of wealth accumulation.”

Member when Biden defenders kept saying it doesn't matter that he won't decriminalize federally because this would never happen?

It's important to remember that, because we can't fucking afford to keep being ok with politicians who won't fix shit after we begrudgingly elect them to try and fix shit.

We need actual progressives who believe in progress.

Yeah I wish he would have been able to, and he should have applied more pressure but without an act of congress, he couldn't decriminalize it. He probably should have faught for it to be legalized recreationally instead of rescheduled to show it had medicinal uses)

October 6 2022 he directed the HHS to review it. (He pardoned anyone federally charged with a possession charge of Marijuana that day)

August 2023 the FDA/HHS completed the review and said it should move from schedule I to III

December 2023: expanded the pardon from just simple possession to simple possession, attempted simple possession, and use/possession of marijuana on certain federal lands.

No one was in federal prison for simple possession charges of marijuana at that time.

He could have ordered heads of agencies to deschedule it.

You're talking about making it federally legal.

I'm talking about removing it from the list of drugs the federal government says are illegal.

That doesmt take congress, it takes agency heads. People that Biden could have fired and replaced if they didn't do what he told them to.

He just didn't want to do it, that's why he told them to "review" it.

How the fuck can grown adults not understand that still?

Like what are you even rambling about with pardons and jail? People back then were saying that an incoming administration can do the thing that this article is describing, I know because I was one of those people

Other people that didn't understand it back then said exactly what you are saying back then, but at least then it was a hypothetical...

You're literally replying to a comment on an article talking about how it was done, how the fuck can you still not see the reason Biden should have de-regulated it?
