Zuckerberg, worth $239bn according to Forbes, told Meta he was considering moving his primary residence elsewhere because Prop 40 could expose him to a massive tax liability, potentially forcing him to sell voting shares to pay it. In response, Meta is creating a new class of non-voting shares via a two-for-one stock split for all existing shareholders. This will allow Zuckerberg to sell some of this new class C shares to pay a potential tax bill, without diluting his control of the company.

How scummy.

Haha, they think a one time billionaire tax can’t happen again.

Californians know these people are parasites and are going to keep coming after them until they are gone.

What the actual fuck is the point of non-voting shares apart from bailing out one massive douche?

Supposedly having those shares will entitle you to an equivalent share of the profits the next time they pay dividends

But I thought billionaires would flee if we taxed them. Are you telling me there are other compelling reasons that they might wish to stay? Weird, my billionaire paid media told me otherwise.

Which will drain their available assets and put them into a state which could use a fresh influx of cash to deal with the multiple impending natural disasters along with the ongoing nearly-perpetual drought. So both him and his company lose money, shrinking him year over year.

Let the fuckboy run his fuckboy company. The rest of the world is sick of his shit, too. Nobody will have any sympathy for him as he slowly realizes he's been a regular smelly greasy human just like the rest of us. And when societal order collapses, his compounds won't count for shit. He will be eaten one way or another.

Their value will still go up (or down) like any other stock. Voting only matters to people that have significant amounts of shares anyways.

Do you think the world is controlled by more than a few hundred influential people? ;)

They don't flee, they just make up new ways to maliciously comply.

It's a one time tax. I hope it's made permanent but that's extremely unlikely. Meta will raise prices to advertisers which will raise the product prices to cover the raised advertising expenses. The only winning move is to stop using Facebook.

Bro “makes” so much money that he needs a stimulus program to help him make ends meet. Dude doesn’t even have to pay it back. What a poor, difficult life he lives! I shall cry and pray for him while I eat my off-brand Cheerios and wait for my next paycheck that will provide groceries that I must ration for the next month.

/s because you never know if someone thinks I’m serious.

Annual dividend: 0.33%

Meta investors just got defrauded.

Not really true, for the fairly obvious reason that non voting shares are worth less and portfolio managers of whatever sort can vote on behalf of all the people they manage.
