Watched "The Birds" on TV as a kid and it freaked me out so much that I had to look under my bed every night for a few days to make sure there were no sea gulls under there.
Like the Hitchcock one ? |

That episode i don't remember. Sounds like nightmare fuel
less of a horror, but close, horror-scifi possibility. the cancer guy, he was made almost entirely of cancer cells, cancer like cells which allows him to have rengenerative powers, and can regenerate a whole body by forming a new one, and eats tumors from medical waste to survive, and can detect cancer in other people using his ability to emit x-rays, cat scan/pet scans(he was able to detect sullys tumor after they removed the alien tracking chip from her.) sorta like resurrection that cylon uses, his conscioness is transferred to the new body. the premise was he was stalking and people who had tumors(they may not be aware of ) and killing them and cutting out the tumors. |

Volcano (1997) terrified young me. How could anyone sleep peacefully when lava could just appear out of nowhere? Needless to say I never lived even remotely close to any kind of geologically active area, let alone a volcano.
Related, Dante's Peak was terrifying to me as a child. spoilerWhen the grandma is screaming in pain from pushing their boat? Still gives me real life terror |

for some reason, i was terrified by the 1989 batman vhs sleeve as a kid. not the movie itself, just the sleeve the tape was in. i don't think i'd even seen the movie at that point. looking at it now, i cannot figure out what i found so scary about it.
I was afraid of Dr. Seuss’s “The foot book” because the cover scared me so I understand Dr. Seuss’s style in general still freaks me out and makes me physically uncomfortable so do some animation styles that remind me of it like SuperJail |

That fucking computer from Superman III, jesus christ my parents should not have let me watch that when I was, like, seven or eight.
Lois's death scene in Superman I fucked me up as a kid. That was a brutal way to go. |

Can't remember what name of this movie, but it had in the end a train flying over a destroyed bridge and into a river at the bottom of a ravine. That and corpses and debris floating left it seared in my head for a couple years. edit: might be this. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074292/ |

That I remember. I really should rewatch that show. Many fond memories. Wonder if it'll hold up. |

At the height of the cold war, 87 or 88 iirc, a movie came on HBO called Dreamscape. It's WW3 imagery really blew my mind, I recall having dreams about it for ages. I'd turned it on because a few weeks before I'd really enjoyed Innerspace with the same lead actor, but this was a bit different lol

@Suck_on_my_Presence Jaws did, I lived near a lake. Took me a while to realize the lake was really much too small for sharks, but the movie gave me vivid dreams.Alien terrified me, as the house I lived in had long dark hallways where those beasts or eggs could hide. Saw the film when video2000 and Betamax were still competing. I never found xenomorphs in my house and terror faded, but the franchise stayed with me including Disneyfication. What actually scared me more was Poltergeist. What a terrifying world, house, family, setting, glow from behind closed doors and the TV sucked you in to the other side. |
