Minor spoilers for those who are squeamish about horror stuff, there are two scenes where I had to hide behind my coat, both have a build up so you won't be surprised. The first is when Matt has his face cut up by mobsters near the start of the film and the surgeries that immediately follow, and the second is when Matt is on a plane and has issues with his eyes. Eye stuff always gets me. Ok, bigger spoilers. My favorite scene has to be the mobster club scene. Everything from watching Caitlin leave his apartment, the Matt reveal, the corny one liner, faking his way into the club, the dance number, no bones lady, shoot the double, suffocating the woman, and finally tearing the mobsters face. And of course the cop topping it all off with "Everyone who's ever wronged is dead now." (Or something like that.) Also really liked the ending. I was surprised that Caitlin would really forgive Matt after everything he did, it felt like a bad movie trope... But no. It's all in his head (body?). My only real complaint was the pacing in the first act, but we're here for a Clayface movie so I'm fine going fast to get to the core of the film. |

Looking at the film as part of the larger DCU. It's completely stand alone. It makes no references to any other DC project current or future (no Batman references). Most of the film takes place in Gotham and so you get a feel for the city, the police and mobsters. It feels like a Gotham that doesn't have Batman. I'm not sure how this film plans to tie in to the larger universe, but a little mention, just a hint of Batman would have been nice or any superhero really. |
