A former Israeli soldier, Yuval Green, has exposed the mindset of Israeli forces before they entered Gaza. He served in the 55th Brigade's 66th Battalion as a medic. He was present when the Battalion's commander Ofir Adani gave a speech before they entered Gaza. Adani told his men: 'I want you to be angry. I want you to rage. I want you to have a deep sense of revenge. Anyone who messes with us should die. He and his family. And his relatives. And everyone who supported him.'

Green said Adani gave several speeches like this. And Ezra Yachin, a 98-year-old who was involved in a Zionist militia's 1948 Deir Yassin massacre of Palestinians, gave a speech to his company before they entered Gaza. Green said: 'This guy comes to us, a group of soldiers, and he's just telling the story of how he massacred villagers…and no one blinks an eye. And I think this shows you very very well what type of atmosphere we've had before we went into Gaza. The writing was on the wall.'

Green said he saw widespread damage to residential properties, which could constitute war crimes. He said: 'I went to my commander and I told him, if we're burning down those houses, I'm leaving the next day. I'm not willing to be a part of it. This is the last straw. And, that's what happened. They burnt down the houses. I went back, and this was it.'

Declassified UK investigated a British national, Jonathan Burman, who served in the same brigade. They geolocated a photo of him standing in front of a burning school in Khan Younis. The school was Al-Farabi. The IDF claimed they attacked a terrorist cell inside a school. But Airwars found the IDF video showed a different school 2 km away. So the IDF cannot explain why Al-Farabi school was on fire. Damaging schools and houses for no military purpose is a war crime under the Geneva Convention. A UN human rights lawyer, Chris Sidoti, said the evidence is sufficient to support further investigation and prosecution. He said the Metropolitan Police's war crimes unit should investigate Jonathan Burman.
