The correct solution is to wait for the game to start, then wait for that player to get the puck. And that's when you go in for as solid a body check as you can. Once they get the puck it becomes fair game to check them and you won't get in trouble for it.

You do realize the police are only there to protect the state and capital, not you, right? They're more likely to escalate to violence than most regular folk, they're trained to treat everyone as a potential threat.
