Heidi Levine is a veteran photojournalist. She works for The Washington Post. She is Jewish and American. On October 16, 2026, she was in the West Bank covering the Palestinian olive harvest near the village of Abu Falah. She was wearing body armor with large press tags. Dozens of masked Israeli occupiers came down from a hilltop. They were armed with clubs and slingshots. They attacked the Palestinians and the journalists.

Levine was trapped. The occupiers threw her to the ground. They kicked her and beat her with sticks. She said they kept kicking her. They broke her camera bag and stole her phone. She estimated the attack lasted 10 minutes. She suffered a broken rib, a broken vertebra, and a severe cut on her hand that required surgery. She was taken to a hospital in Ramallah.
