Hell, even during that time in history, the blithely hopeful rode out in droves to "claim" what they were "promised", only to commit atrocities in the name of their gilded idol... who then ground the majority of them underfoot en masse without so much as a blink as the so-called leaders gorged on bribes, "not slavery" profits, etc.

Hunh. Weird.
