Season 6, Episode 20 of the SyFy Sistas podcast features a conversation with Gina Yashere — comedian, actor, writer, and producer — about her role as Cadet Master Lura Thok in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. Hosts Tamia and Fran sit down with her for what sounds like their first conversation about joining the Star Trek universe, coming off her well-known work on Bob Hearts Abishola.

If you're watching Starfleet Academy or just love hearing from the talent behind the scenes, this is a genuinely fun and enthusiastic interview. SyFy Sistas was named 2025 Best All-Around Star Trek Podcast by TrekMovie, and their interview episodes tend to be warm and candid rather than stiff press-junket stuff.
