Most companies don’t know how to use this, or are too bureaucratic to leverage LLMs correctly.

Yeah. It's not some magic money printer. It's got use cases and it's got abuse cases.

Lots of companies finding out expensive lessons on which is which.

LLMs aren't going to replace a workforce, isn't going to maintain your entire enterprise stack, and isn't going to be able to handle the bulk of your CSR work.

But there sure are lots of people blowing millions trying to see if they can be the "one off" from everyone else who failed.

I think we should have one more meeting about how to best use AI for our work. Yes, one more meeting will fix everything. I have already booked a 3-hour time slot in the meeting room with the bad ventilation. You better be there.

All those comp should try and remove AI from their processes. Good luck untangling that big ball of mud after they let go 80% of engineers.

In a company with 100 engineers, AI replaces some as tasks are fullfilled faster.

Most companies don't have any engineers and just glue everything together in Salesforce and Excel.

Leaving aside the whole circle jerkular economics of AI, the pattern in tech companies has been:

  • devs start using AI
  • middle mgmt says cool but watch the security
  • CEO says increase productivity, reduce labor!
  • middle mgmt says but the cost, and competence..
  • HR cuts 10% here, 15% there, finance says spreadsheet happy
  • delivery suffers, quality suffers
  • AI cost skyrockets
  • middle mgmt says ayyy no bueno
  • CEO still doesn't understand what AI is, says more more more
  • some AI generated script deletes PROD
  • there's no backup, no recovery
  • costs are higher than ever, product is worth less than ever, and there's no 'company' because there's no team

Can we make the CEO role redundant already? 'One boss to rule them all' is the fastest way into the fires of mount doom. Stupid fucks...

Where are all those agile loraxes now? Why didn't we listen to them about sustainable operations?

13% (presumably 12.5%) means 1 in 8.

CxOs with their Thought Leadership™️ and outside the box (follow the herd) thinking have done everything they can to reduce the cost and chaos of humans in their company, and prioritising the reverse centaur approach to LLMs for short term gain instead of making them centaurs: a useful tool to enhance their productivity for long term results.

And now they're waving their hands in despair, wondering who's to blame. It can't be them, by definition.

Let them burn. Let those companies die. Piss on their ashes. Blacklist the people involved. It's more than they deserve.

Well, ideally that would mean you are able to increase production with the same people and produce more for the same budget. Not cut heads.

I hope this is happening to Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle and couple of more companies.

My friend, you seem to have a higher opinion of middle management than I; they seem to be frantically adopting AI almost as fast as the C Suite to me, and pushing for every "cut costs and defer security features" measure that they can.

In my case (a publicly listed company), ceo and the executive board are silent towards workers, its the useless middle mgmnt pushing this shit.

I dont even remember seeing ceo anywhere in years

Yeah, the 'just following orders' brigade. Also, C is for Charlatan, it was decided, by them, through their ineptitude.

Depends on the company and its culture. Sometimes they're the worst, others they're quite good.

Size can be a factor (easier to hide in a larger crowd), but any size group can allow itself to be led by feckless fecking fecks if they don't push back.
