I once watched two kids get hit by a woman who was turning left in a similar situation to this, but it wasn't even that she was looking away she literally just said she couldn't see because the sun was in her face but decided to proceed through the crosswalk (and it was a marked crosswalk in that case) anyway.

Would've gotten hit myself if my dad hadn't been so cautious.
