An investigation by Who Funded Genocide has exposed a coordinated Israeli platform manipulation and Hasbara campaign. The report, titled Manufactured Consensus, shows that pro-Israel content does not trend by accident. Online tools chose which posts to push up and which critics to report for removal. Public filings show who is paid to run these campaigns. Both trails lead back to the Israeli state. The system works in layers. Ministries set budgets and approve campaigns. Agencies turn that money into managed influencers and ad buys. Tools tell volunteers which posts to reply to and which to report. The results show up on the platforms as replies, boosts, and takedown reports. The report names specific tools used in this operation. Words of Iron, Moovers, and Israel Tech Guards Social Watch. Archived data shows Words of Iron had lists of 205 distinct posts to boost, including posts by Aviva Klompas, Hen Mazzig, and StandWithUs. The Moovers app data held 21 X comment tasks. Words of Iron also had a browser extension with an Autopilot mode that contained code to click reply, like, and bookmark buttons. Replies came pre-written from a set of 13 prepared messages. FARA filings link this to the Israeli government. Contracts show millions of dollars flowing to firms like Havas, Clock Tower X, Piro, SKDK, and Stagwell. The money comes from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Diaspora Ministry, Lapam (the Governments Advertising Bureau), the National Public Diplomacy Directorate, and the IDF Spokesperson. The investigation includes an interactive map and a downloadable dataset for researchers. |
