Found this on another "social" network - and thought I'd share with you, as I think the principle is pretty intriguing.

The article itself reads a bit sloppy - but explains what's going on quite well imo.

On the sun-drenched Mediterranean island of Sardinia, in the industrial zone of Ottana, rises a colossal, gleaming white elliptical bladder structure that looks like an indoor sports stadium or a terrestrial space habitat. Instead of

the trick is that in high energy state carbon dioxide is liquid held under pressure instead of high pressure gas, like it works with compressed air energy storage, this makes it much more efficient

the article is wrong tho. after compression carbon dioxide doesn't stay at supercritical state, it gets cooled into liquid. text is slop and so are images. there's more errors

The weird golf ball places with fancy computers in them use this design to reflect signal attacks.

I use this design to make Dorito balls. The trick is to glue with cheese. It works really well when capturing people who would dare to eat a Dorito ball.

Awesome concept, and really cool that it's actually been built!

reads a bit sloppy

I caved in about half way, at that point it was just churning out more words.

So what's the resulting pressure in the liquid, approx?

So does cool ranch or original nacho cheese work better?

Mix both together & you can catch shiny rares at Walmart. Just be sure to bring 'really large pokëballs'.

tldr :
like steam engine but replace water with CO~2~
(and more efficient if no gas is lost)
liquid at (20 to 30)⁰C, ~65 atm
gas at (-40 to +40)⁰C at least and 1 atm
(it needs a huge place for storage of course)

vapor pressure of liquid carbon dioxide at whatever temperature storage tanks happen to be. wiki tells me it's 60 atm at 22C and 40 atm at 6C, so not that much in grand scheme of things
