At this diameter, you'd have to suck so hard. It would be perfect for OP.

Because it's a cup

But why does it need to have a hole in it?

There is no hole, it's merely a a ditch.

It's because you are using it wrong, it has to be flipped upside down.

There's no hole, learn basic typology. A hole is an opening that goes through something, like the handle of a coffee cup.

Your unit ships with a single multipurpose I/O aperture, integrated during manufacture as part of the standard liquid retention subsystem. This is the industry-default configuration: no user-installable ports are required, and no drivers are needed. The liquid interface is natively supported out of the box. There's also limited support for high-density gases, such as O~2~ or H~2~S. If you're planning to store liquids in the unit, please verify the that the material is compatible with the liquid in question. Usually, cups are made of glass, but plastic variants exist as well. In case of glass, you can safely store most liquids in it, but a HF solution will damage the container. Also, high temperature liquids, such as Fe will cause severe thermal damage.

Dual-aperture variants do exist under the technical designation "pipe", but implementing such a layout violates the single-opening constraint of the current "cup" specification. A pipe is therefore non-compliant and cannot be certified as a cup. Your unit, as shown, is fully spec-compliant.

Note on accessing the internal storage volume: ingress is performed by routing liquid through the top aperture under gravity-based transport. Keep total payload below rated capacity (see manufacturer provided specifications) or you will trigger an uncontrolled spillage event, which is not covered by the warranty.

The unit must maintain a stable upright orientation (aperture normal ≥ 90° relative to the horizontal plane) during normal operation. Any deviation beyond the rated tilt threshold will initiate an unattended liquid release event via the I/O aperture. Such events are classified as user-initiated bulk egress and fall outside the scope of the retention warranty. Recovery from an egress event requires a manual refill cycle; the system does not support automatic re-ingestion of released payloads.

The liquid retention system would fail catastrophically if you added a hole.
