Theme: Day of Reckoning! Dang, so many are shaving early this morning. I'm using the Colonial Oud set with Tabac Man today.

Daily Challenge: Jack of All Trades - I collect knives. I focus on knives that satisfyingly flick out. I tried flicking while shaving this morning but it got kind of dodgy. (Some of my favorites in the pic)

  • Brush: 3D Printed - w/RDC DinoBoar 26mm Boar
  • Razor: Fatip Classic Testina Gentile - Chrome
  • Blade: Personna P74 (18)
  • Lather: La Maison du Savon de Marseille - Aloe Vera & Donkey Milk - Soap
  • Post Shave: Barrister and Mann - Petrichor - Aftershave

I got this soap at a soap store in Brussels, Belgium. It's advertised as a shave soap for men. It's a round bar of soap, probably triple milled, and it smells really nice. The lather is not good looking, but does provide some protection so I'm not tempted to toss it. It's just the sort of soap that you load, put on your face, and don't add any water to. You have to reload for each pass.

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

Well, I did my shave before checking to see if my soap brand has been used. Nonetheless, for Reckoning Day, my brand choice is Subtle Art Soaps.

Since this shave tested the performance of two freshly-honed razors, I'm incorporating another hobby, sharpening, into this shave. I have used waterstones for sharpening for a long-time. It is primarily a hobby but I have provided sharpening services, as well. Since the challenge asks, "What does this mean?", I'll explain, but I think it is obvious. Unlike those new-fangled safety razors, a straight razor does not take replaceable blades. Instead, a straight razor must be sharpened (honed) when its edge becomes dull. 'nuff said, I'm sure.

October 25th, 2026: Reckoning Day

  • Brush: Omega - 10048 28mm Boar
  • Razor: Kobar 5/8", full hollow, round point (2)
  • Lather: Fanzine Saponifications - This Is Not a Test - Soap
  • Post Shave: Proraso - Red - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Oleo & Co. - Facial Toner - Toner
  • Fragrance: Barrister and Mann - Lavanille - EdT

Theme justification - Nobody has used Fanzine Saponifications yet today. For shame. u/thestallionpartthree should be disappointed with everyone here.

Relevant Post Shave or Frag - The Proraso splash fits well with the sandalwood and orange in the soap. It's a warm, calming combinatoin that works quite well.

Daily challenge - My main hobby right now, apart from cutting hair off of my face, is running. I've run a couple 10/12k races over the last couple years, and am currently training for my first half marathon this November.

I was going to shave earlier this afternoon, but needed to get out for my long run. The longest in my current training block! Today I ran 13.13 miles, my longest run in my whole damn life.

Given that a good shave was on my mind for most of the run, I'd say my running hobby was involved in today's shave.

$FOF - This Is Not a Test is a lovely, warm, unassuming scent. Sandalwood and orange form the first impression, while hints of lavender peek through in the gaps. It's a lovely barbershop-esque scent in an excellent base, zero complaints on my end.

Proraso Red just brought another layer of sandalwood, anchoring/grounding the feeling left by the soap.

Lavanille is a stark contrast bringing Mousse de Saxe, sexy vanilla, cedar, lavender, and musk. Lavanille somehow smells to me like what I imagine it feels like to be a plant in the deep forest. Green, herbaceous, dank, and exotic. It's one of my favorites from BaM for sure.

  • Serum: Ash Hopper Blueberry Serum

1st pass WTG, 2nd pass XTG. CCS. Been struggling with irritation on my face at all times, not just shaving... Seems to be getting slightly better over time. Decreasing my shaving frequency also seems to help... :(
