Yeah obviously they haven't successfully overthrown Trump yet. What is delusional about me telling you the revolution will not be televised?

I'm tired of the idea that looting stores and burning public buildings is an effective way to protest. Most protests in Europe are also legal events. You ask for permit to march through a city. Only in some places rioters started destroying things. So far peaceful protests in Spain forced government to pass housing laws requested by people and call snap elections while all riots in France achie...

Spain has a left wing government (the last time I looked at least) they play by the rules it seems (people ask, government provide as it can).

In France the right have sold out the country to the rich, more or less stole the prime ministers seat (after the snap elections it should have gone to the left, surprise surprise it didn't) , they couldn't care less about housing prices and so on.

So when you say france only obtained a curfew you show that you don't understand those two countries political landscapes.

The fight goes on āœŠšŸ¼

When he tries to deny or overturn the results of elections from 50 separate states (again) because he’s a whiny crybaby bitch and most Americans are sick of his shit? Did you not read the first part of my comment when I said the pain threshold isn’t high enough? Did you forget my other comment (that you bookmarked) where I said people ARE acting every day to resist ICE?

PlaidBaron is right though, why all the downvotes?

You think you'll all rise up after an event that already happened once, that is delusional IMO.

I don't have a perfect answer to your mess, but I don't think waiting is the answer.

Good luck, you need it.

Sorry to comment twice. But are you actually real? Like a human with breath and a beating heart? You don’t fundamentally understand that difference here? These people are fighting, the ā€œdemonstrationsā€ in America have had zero bite, and any real fight in them has been squashed by their own people. You HAVE to see that.

What else did they gain? After the riots support Le Pen grew. You really think this is good for the left and our fight?

These threads are full of useful idiots and propagandists shitting on Americans. I'm so bored by this nonsense. At least get more clever if you're going to try to divide all of us. The way I see it, we're all in this together. Even the Russian people are my ally if they oppose fascism and corruption. These are my people... All people who want a better world. But sure, enjoy your indulgences if ...

How is advocating for the people to come together and fight "trying to divide all of you"?

I mean, Russia sure, people don't want to end up in Siberia. But I wonder why Poland, Austria and friends are so empty. Surely Austrian police isn't worse than fucking Spanish? Also, there is a suspiciously England-shaped hole.

The Brits won't do shit against their masters. They are only good at punching down.

Well we had No Kings protests. Police have shot and killed our citizens in the process of that. In my area, during a protest, police grabbed, dragged, and shot a protestor point blank in the eye with a less than lethal gun (he's blind now)

And people have lost their eyes protesting the redesign of a train station here in Germany. Clashes with law enforcement are to be expected when you protest the government. You don't tuck in your tail because of that.

Looks like you don't know where Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia and Romania among other countries are.

Don't be coy, we all know what it's in reference to. Especially given that some countries on the list actually have pretty lively political activity

I think you might be misunderstanding my comments or maybe I'm misunderstanding yours because I am very lost. I added the "protests aren't totally useless" thing as a way to combat defensiveness after I replied to the top level comment comparing recent US protests (such as No Kings) to the protests shown in the meme. It's absurd to compare the two, and not because of the violence that occurs at...

what specific goals though?

Well political activist organizations were already banded together going to No Kings protests when those citizens were shot, for some reason we're not winning yet

I am very plugged in on the American politics, and yet I have no idea which ones you can mean. This means that either those organisations are small enough so they don't even break the local social media barrier, or they were so quiet after that, they didn't even try to do anything on any public level.
Two people were executed on the streets by the regime, and the reaction was less severe than when a shitty musician was shitty.

No idea what you're talking about. I showed map with bunch of EU countries unaffected by current unrest and you started talking about Russia. You're either not great at geography or you don't understand people in Europe have different priorities than people in Russia.

Oh, I see. I don't think the US can be said to be exerting imperialist power over the Chinese though. China is probably the place least vulnerable to the US trade sanctions, for example. Imperialism is the export of capital and the import of resources, profit from capital and labour.

Who said the US was exerting imperial power?

The cheap goods are exerting economic power on the US (and Europe too for that matter).

But then again, you guys didn't vote that one time because you didn't know how to buy stamps and googling it was the whole thing, so I get it.

couple of hours to get there

Wow, people are always so quick to point out how bad Americans are at world geography then say stupid shit like this. Get a map

what specific goals though?

The goals are to put pressure on the government by causing disruption, which is not necessarily done with the matches/riots but with other acts.

Speaking in general, the french tend to do rallies and protests in combination with strikes. So the protest is to draw attention to the strike or is populated by the strikers and their supporters. It is the strike that applies pressure. Occupying some area that disrupts normal business is another common tactic.

The yellow vest movement blocked roads and fuel depots, which was a direct action to disrupt access to fuel and the movement of vehicles. Their (initial) grievance was high fuel costs. They also organized to block tollbooths on 20 roads and blocked airport runways, all disrupting commerce.

With the current student protests occupations (sit ins), walk outs and blockages are being used. These are paired with teach-ins and more theatrical type street demonstrations to raise awareness.

In contrast, a protest like the No Kings protests are (generally) not taking people away from their jobs and are in pre approved routes and locations which cause minimal disruption to the daily lives of others and the function of the state.

This is what I mean when I say it's important to look closely at why these movements are successful. Rolling walkouts or strikes wouldn't necessarily attract violence from the state but would disrupt the systems that allow the state to continue doing what they are doing.

Yeah, in America control is done with Circus & Bread, with the "Circus" being not just Entertainment (which includes "Faux News") but also hyper-consumerism, whilst the control via "Bread" being with things like Private Healtcare and Student Loans.

People run around happily being shafted (and not even in a good, sexy way) as long as they have the latest smartphone and claim they pay much less tax than Europe whilst paying for the by far most expensive Healthcare and Higher Education in the World (both in average being actually worse - worst healthcare outcomes and most universities also worst - than in other countries).

How many Americans are actually politically aware and willing to fight for their rights?!

Mind you, some of this shit has been exported and at least here in Europe adopted to quite an extent, though clearly nowhere as much as in the US, though not for lack of trying.

"guys, we went on a permitted march in favor of slightly less shitty authoritarian neoliberals, what more do you want?"

Nobody was shot and killed for No Kings. What the people were shot and killed by ICE for was direct action of rapid response against ICE.

That's exactly what the Serbian protestors were forced to do as well - and unlike Ukraine, they didn't have lots of CIA backing to help them.

Strategically, the best option other nations have to solve the American Problem is to prepare to weather the storm and let the country collapse by itself.

Historically what's going on now with the US is a pretty straightforward "fall of the Empire" scenario (the biggest Empires invariably fall from internal problems as the generations that created the Empire are replaced by generations which know nothing more than wealth extraction) and interfering with that is a great way to be targetted as a scapegoat by the falling empire's elites and suffer the side-effects of that empire's death throes.

Looking from the outside, even if Trump is stopped, the problem will at best be delayed since the other party of the Power Duopoly that controls America is also deeply corrupt and done their part in the decay of that country for the last couple of decades (by weakening unions, deregulating Finance, unconditionally saving big companies, having Financial and Economic policies which reward Rentierism above Work, and so on) - Trump is not the malaise that's killing America, he's a symptom of that malaise and removing him will not solve the problem, will not stop another one like him to take over in the future and will not alter the trendof decay, only the speed of it.

As for the idea that Fascism is taking over in other countries, well, the rest is well behind the US in it and it's exactly the point of the OP that people in other countries are already starting to push against it, well before it gets to the level seen in the US of jackboots (for the US that would be ICE) going around arbitrarilly arresting and even killing people.

No I wouldn’t say the Russian people are the enemy either. But their autocratic government invading Ukraine aren’t exactly high on my list of potential allies.

It’s not the Russian people that were fighting, but we should be fighting autocracy wherever it happens to be, and it happens to be in Russia. Being allies isn’t like being sister cities. Our autocratic govt is in bed with their autocratic govt.
