Why wouldn’t they just release an app? Why run an LLM each and every time another person wants to install it on their TV? What if the LLMs are updated to make this stop working? I’m sure Google isn’t thrilled by this and I could see them making this not work, or making it look like it works but keep all the telemetry active.

I installed the apk listed on that github page and it worked just fine on my onn android tv, great actually. There's no need for that convoluted llm bs.

Google TV? Google TV doesn't need debloating. It was killed off in 2014, back when Google still made good things. Current devices run Android TV.

That's a pretty pedantic comment. Yes, google changed the name but you still know what this is referring to.

The name Google TV returned, except now Google TV is a UI running on top of Android TV.

XBMP-XBMC Kodi has existed for 23.

MythTV even longer. Why use the Google poison?

It does feel a shame to have a processor on a tv that isn't used for anything, also it's likely collecting data anyways even if you are only using hdmi

And Kodi's ui is genuinely dogshit

I had to look it up. I have never heard the operating system called Google TV, and I stopped using my Android TV once Google started ruining the UI with what I guess is called Google TV in some branding. I tried for a while with a different launcher, but it never really worked well, and it was an aging unit that had other problems unrelated to ads taking over my TV.
